My mission is to bring hope, unity, transparency, respect, love throughout Macon-Bibb County. All citizens of Macon-Bibb will have an opportunity to prosper and have a safe life.

ELECTION DAY IS: MAY 21, 2024
My name is Shekita Maxwell I am a native of Macon, Georgia. I’m running for Mayor of Macon-Bibb County. Being Elected Mayor is a Litmus test for me, “The Mayor Chemist.” My sole purpose for running for Mayor is that too many in our community are still left out of that story of progress. We have seen some of our neighborhoods come roaring back, but others are still very, very distant from prosperity. There are too many families where every adult, and even some teenagers, are working multiple jobs and still struggling to make ends meet.
As Mayor I will implement a creative Safety Plan to accommodate and Foster quality of place for everyone, all residents of Macon-Bibb County and surrounding areas by Strengthening governance and institutions means improving the transparency, accountability, participation, and coordination of authorities and stakeholders, as well as reducing corruption, violence, and crime. I will make Increased Public and Domestic Safety, Social Services, and Affordable Housing a top priority across all Macon-Bibb County, not in some areas. A consolidated local government will have consolidated services. Macon-Bibb County Sheriff and Fire Department are here to stay, separate but equal is never equal. As Mayor I hold the power to reject (veto) proposed city laws and those laws viewed or masqueraded as Jim Crow laws among the city will be vetoed.
The fight for democracy ( We the People) is as old as democracy itself. Corporate interests such as UDA and Hull Corporations use big money (wasteful spending) to make politicians ( my opponent and his colleagues) betray the People.
Right now, we have an amazing opportunity to transform Macon-Bibb County into the gleaming light and charming City it is destined to be.
Jesus is a firm foundation. Integrity, transparency, and unity will be our pathway back to the basics.

“Leaders Are The Ones Who See The World Not As It Is, But As It Could Be. And That “Be” Is Not A Destination or A Goal, But A Vision- Something Worth Sacrificing And Fighting For.”
The Mayor provides visionary and strategic direction for City and community initiatives. The Mayor has the power to shape the vision of the city. I am fit to be Mayor because every job that I have had is endowed in service to We the People. I was born and raised in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia and I am Anthony Road Graduate-Matilda Hartley, Ballard Hudson Middle School and the legendary Southeast High School. Where I excelled in academics, athletics and Marine Corps J.R.O.T.C. I am a Veteran of the United States Army where I served as an Operational Chemical Specialist, I have 8 years in the Federal Government IRS, DOD , Robins AFB, and FDA as Legal Assistant, Public Health Officer, Administrator and Chemist. I hold a Bachelor of Science from “The Tuskegee University” in Clinical Laboratory Sciences. I am a “ Double Bear” holding 2 Master’s Degrees from Mercer University in Public Health and Education-STEM, and I am currently pursuing a 3rd Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology with a focus in Diversity and Inclusion at Wesleyan College. I am a member of the Macon Chapter of NAACP, National League of Negro Woman, Dress for Success, Blacks in Government and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Community Activist, and Conservationist and apart of various other organizations. I am a volunteer with the Bibb County School District, Tom Fountain Macon Little League, African American Historic Society, WEALTH ASAP, Kappa League, Fathers Among Men and various civic organizations. I will be the public face of the city, for representation matters and with that face I will reflect leadership in my role as influence of integrity and goodwill.
